Care Instructions
Your custom woodworking piece was handcrafted (by me) using authentic, exotic, wood species imported from around the world. No paints or stains were used; these are their NATURAL stunning colors.
Typical lumber species used/some may not be listed:
Wen’ge (dark brown)
Maple (light tan)
Purple heart (purple, can darken overtime)
African Padauk (orange))
Yellowheart (yellow)
Sapele
Mahogany
Bloodwood
CanaryWood (yellow/gold)
Rosewood (orange/red)
Peruvian Walnut (dark brown)
Angelique (light/medium brown)
Blue Mahoe (bluish gray)
These species are classified as “hardwoods” and are food safe, but NOT DISHWASHER SAFE. Placing them in the dishwasher will damage and possibly warp.
I used a homemade conditioner blend that is food safe to treat the butcher block(s), charcuterie boards, and cheese slicers, which contains only 3 ingredients: mineral oil, orange citrus oil, and beeswax. You may notice the aroma of the orange scent when first opening your box.
Losing its Shine is Typical
Your new board isn’t just an art piece to display, but it is 100% functional and should last you many years of use if cared for according to the instructions below. Your piece will lose its shine after a few uses. You can also expect the color of some species of lumber to also change color over time. This is due to not using any harmful sealants. My goal is to ensure that every item used in creating your board, is 100% food safe. Example: PurpleHeart will sometimes turn into a brownish like color.
Care Instructions:
Hand wash in warm water with dishwashing soap. Wipe down with a towel and let it air dry overnight. When the butcher board loses its glossy shine use the homemade conditioner blend in the small tin can that’s included, or not, if you like the natural raw-matte appearance.
